These standards describe Yoga Alliance’s requirements for a Registered Yoga School that offers a 300 hour or 350 hour programme.
Before applying to register your training programme as a RYS 300/350 hour, you may carefully want to consider the following points:
Teacher Training delivery options (intensive, long-term or weekend training).
Learning modes (theory components can be delivered online or correspondence format).
The new “Spirit of Yoga Standards” for a 300/350 hour training program must incorporate the Yoga Alliance’s educational categories of study and practice below for a minimum number of designated hour in the presence of a Senior or ERYT.
300/350 hour are categorised as Intermediate Training designed to deepen the trainee’s understanding of the fundamental concepts of teaching yoga that are generally taught at the 200/250-hour level.
Techniques, Training and Practice: RYS 300-155 hours/RYS 350-180 hours
Teaching Methodology: RYS 300-40 hours/RYS 350-50 hours
Anatomy & Physiology: RYS 300-40 hours/RYS 350-40 hours
Yoga Philosophy/Ethics/Lifestyle: RYS 300-250 hours/RYS 350-35 hours
Asana Risk Assessment: Evaluating the potential risks that may be involved in performing or teaching advanced postures: RYS 300/RYS 350-10 hours
Sanskrit: Asana Nomenclature.
Students Teaching: Sequencing and Leading Classes.

Within all Training Courses the following criteria must be met:
As a rule 90% of the Teacher Training total hours MUST be contact hours.
Senior/ERYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) MUST teach a minimum of 80% of the course contact hours;
The remaining contact hours that do not require the presence of a Senior or ERYT may be distributed according to the school’s chosen emphasis.
All students accepted onto the course MUST have been practicing yoga for a minimum of 2 years.
As a guide the following contact hours MUST be met:
350 hour course
Total number of hours – 350
Contact hours – 315 (minimum)
