Yoga 250-Hour Standards Yoga Alliance Australia’s existing Standards for RYS-200 have been revised and removed. The revised Standards to clarify language on the intention or utility of a standard have been updated to RYS-250 hour.

Students who complete trainings with these schools are eligible to register as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200).

The new Standards are intended to encourage Training Providers to develop their own unique curriculum of study.

Before applying to register your training programme as a RYS 250 hour, you may carefully want to consider the following points:

  1. Teacher Training delivery options (intensive, long-term or weekend training).

  2. Learning modes (some theory components can be delivered online or correspondence format).

The new “Spirit of Yoga Standards” for a 250 hour training program must incorporate the Yoga Alliance’s educational categories of study and practice below for a minimum number of designated hour in the presence of a  Senior or ERYT.

*Schools that convert registration from Yoga Alliance U.S or a similar recognised organisation, MUST comply with the new 250 hour Standards requirement by incorporating  additional 50 hours into their existing YTT.

250 hour programs are designed to provide trainee’s understanding of the fundamental concepts of teaching yoga.
